Colby Branch Gives Back at Grand Opening
On January 14, 2014, Adams Bank & Trust celebrated the Grand
Opening of our branch in Colby, Kansas. This branch is our newest
and the first Adams Bank & Trust location in Kansas. The event
was well attended by the Colby community. As part of the celebration,
Adams Bank & Trust held a charitable donation drawing that
allowed attendees to nominate their favorite Thomas County
nonprofit organization to be awarded a donation from Adams
Bank & Trust on their behalf. Two prizes were awarded: one for
$1,000 and the other for $500.
Northwest Kansas Foundation for HOPE, nominated by Pat Sloan,
was the drawing winner and received the $1,000 donation. The
organization was founded in 2009 by a group of nine Thomas
County women, whose lives have been touched by cancer in
some way, be it personally or with a loved one. The goal of this
nonprofit is to help offset the expenses of local cancer patients
so their families can focus on recovery and not bills. Northwest
Kansas Foundation for HOPE does this by allowing individuals
to apply for a grant of up to $500 for assistance with things such
as gas, lodging during treatment, medical bills, medications, wigs,
medical equipment, and dietary supplements. Northwest Kansas
Foundation for HOPE supports families in Cheyenne, Decatur,
Gove, Rawlins, Sheridan, Sherman, Thomas, and Wallace counties.

The Crohns and Colitis Foundation, nominated by Lloyd &
Cindy Cersovsky, was the drawing winner of the $500 donation.
Donation to Ed and Ruth Lehman YMCA
The Ed and Ruth Lehman YMCA of Longmont, Colorado is a
cause-driven organization for youth development, healthy living,
and social responsibility. This YMCA recently received a $1,500.00
donation from Adams Bank & Trust and accepting the funds were
Sheridan Wolfe, Director of Social Responsibility, and Noel Brendefur,
CEO. They will use the donation to help support Youth Sports for All,
a program that makes it possible for local, low-income children in
Longmont to participate in soccer leagues throughout the year.
Bucks for Ogallala Legion Baseball
Adams Bank & Trust, in conjunction with Western Insurors, will be
returning for its fourth season as the Ogallala Senior and Junior
Legion Baseball team sponsors. This year’s $2,500 donation will be
put to use in many ways. Some funds will be spent on uniforms
and equipment for the teams, and some will also go toward field
upkeep to ensure that Ogallala’s field stays in pristine playing condition
throughout the season. Players for the teams come from all the
surrounding areas including Ogallala, Grant, Paxton, and Big Springs.
Adams Bank & Trust is dedicated to the communities in which we live and work and welcomes
opportunities to give back to them. We believe everyone benefits when neighbors reach
out to help neighbors.
