WINDOWS XP
SUPPORT TO END
Support for Windows XP (and Office 2003)
will end on April 8, 2014, a date consistent
with Microsoft’s support lifecycle, which
is usually around 10 years. After April
8, Microsoft will no longer provide new
security updates, non-security hotfixes, free
or paid assisted support options, or online
technical content updates.
You can still use Windows XP, but Microsoft
doesn’t recommend it because your computer
might become more vulnerable to security
risks and viruses, no matter how robust
your antivirus software is. Instead, Microsoft
strongly recommends that you download
the current versions of Windows and Office.
While this step may involve a significant
financial outlay, the cost of not doing it
could be far greater.
Your current computers may be compatible
with Windows 7 or 8. However, you may
want to take the opportunity to purchase new
computers, which will be faster and include
all the latest “bells and whistles.”
