Something They
Want,
Something They
Need,
Something to
Wear,
and Something to
Read
Holiday gift shopping can easily turn
into a stressful experience when you
try to buy everything you think your
kids “must” have. You spend weeks
researching where you can get the
lowest prices and fight the frenzy of
crowds at local stores. And it’s all done
in an attempt to delight your kids with
piles of presents under the tree.
But consider these questions: How
many of the holiday gifts you’ve given
in recent years were actually used and
enjoyed, and how many ended up in
the back of a closet after a few days?
In an effort to simplify the gift-buying
process, some families have adopted
the saying, “Something they want,
something they need, something to
wear, and something to read.” This
strategy encourages parents to give
just four gifts per child, selecting
one per category. By doing so, more
thought can go into the selection
of each item, and the experience
will hopefully be more rewarding
for everyone.

ongratulations to Kerri Koeppen of Dexter, who was awarded $100 as SKT’s 2017
Southeast Kansas Area Telephone Directory Cover Contest winner. Kerri took the
photo last fall on Grouse Creek near Maple City, Kansas. She noted, “The tree colors were
absolutely beautiful…God designed it all and I just took the picture.”
Because the second- and third-place photos were quite beautiful as well, they will also appear
on the 2017 cover. Stephanie Easton of Beaumont took second place, receiving $50 for her
photo entitled,“Bison Bull on a Beautiful Fall Day.”Diane Hahn’s photo of registered Brangus
cattle earned her third place and $25 from SKT. She is from Burden.
The 2017 Clearwater/Viola Telephone Directory Cover Photo Contest is now underway! SKT
customers in these areas are invited to participate by submitting up to three local photos by
the end of February.
