W I N T E R 2 0 1 8 5 BUSINESS solutions Coal Country Chamber of Commerce Established in 1999, the Coal Country Chamber of Commerce serves the communities of Benld, Dorchester, Eagarville, East Gillespie, Gillespie, Mount Clare, Sawyerville, and Wilsonville. Its membership is made up of municipalities and government bod- ies, local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and individuals. As stated on its website, the purpose of the Coal Country Chamber of Commerce is “to enrich the quality of life within our communities by providing economic growth and oppor- tunity, civic pride, and fostering community involvement in a unified and proactive manner.” Popular community events put on by this Chamber include: • Paws in the Park • Summer Concert Series • Pet Parade • Fall Festival • Tour de Coal • Holiday Spirit Celebration • Snack With Santa In addition, the Coal Country Chamber of Commerce helps promote local businesses through its Business of the Year Award, Ribbon Cuttings, and Business After Hours. Hosting these events and activities requires a long list of tasks, so the Coal Country Chamber of Commerce is always looking for volunteers to help. Madison Communications pitches in to help the Coal Coun- try Chamber of Commerce in several ways. Director Mickey Robinson notes, “We greatly appreciate all that Madison Com- munications has done for our Chamber. They always participate in our Summer Concert Series by providing representatives and free event advertising.
