TV Parental Guidelines Ratings System
The TV Parental Guidelines ratings provides program ratings, and content ratings to provide a clearer idea of the reason for a program’s rating
Program Ratings TV-Y – All Children
This program is designed to be appropriate for all children.
TV-Y7 – Directed to Older Children
This program is designed for children age 7 and above. It may include mild fantasy violence or comedic violence. TV-G – General Audience
Most parents would fnd this program suitable for all ages.
TV-PG – Parental Guidance Suggested
This program contains material that parents may fnd unsuitable for younger children.
TV-14 – Parents Strongly Cautioned
This program contains some material that many parents would fnd unsuitable for children under 14 years of age. TV-MA – TV Mature Audience Only
This program is specifcally designed to be viewed by adults and therefore may be unsuitable for children under 17.
Content Ratings
Content Ratings are shown just below the program rating. FV: Fantasy Violence (only applied to TV-Y7)
For those programs where fantasy violence may be more intense or more combative than other programs in this category.
The meaning of a content rating increases as the program rating increases.
