The Great Pumpkin Hunt is an annual Range tradition, and this year it was held in six communities — Dubois, Forsyth, Newcastle, Sundance, Thermopolis, and Worland—from October 23-27. A pumpkin was hidden in each community, and a series of clues were given daily until someone found it. We congratulate the 2023 winners: OVER $33,000 IN PRIZES GIVEN TO WINNERS OF THE GREAT PUMPKIN HUNT 1. CHASE STEINKE Dubois Pumpkin was near the end of the fishing access on the south side of the river, on the ground in the willows. 2. AUGUST AND WAYNE SANDMEIER Forsyth Pumpkin was in the muzzle of the cannon at the courthouse. 3. SUZANNE ACKERMAN, SHAWNDA SANDRINI, GRACE SANDRINI, AND MEGAN OTT Newcastle Pumpkin was under one of the bases at the baseball field. 4. THE CARLSON FAMILY Sundance Pumpkin was in Sundance Square Park, painted and disguised as one of the rocks in the back corner rock beds, concealed near or under one of the Karl Foerster grasses. It was partially visible but hidden in some of the real rocks. 5. CILEY AND DALE ANDREEN Thermopolis Pumpkin was in the rock wall covered in red vines along the walking path in Hot Springs State Park. 6. RYAN O’HALLORAN Worland Pumpkin was under the shed in the Worland Community Center Park. Range would like to thank all the community businesses and partners that helped support this event. Because of their generosity, we were able to give away more than $33,000 in prizes this year! We’d also like to give an especially big thanks to our radio station partners—KDNO 101.7, KTAK 93.9, KIKC 101.3, KASL 94.3, Eagle Country 95.9/96.3, and Big Horn Media. DECEMBER 2023 5 Is there anything you’d like to share about your family and/or hobbies? Erin: I love being on the mountain shed hunting and fly fishing with my husband and 4-year-old twin boys. Janelle: My family and I moved from Hawaii to Montana in 2022—a huge change to say the least. I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends, hiking, looking for agates, and playing with my fur babies. McCamey: I live in Rosebud with my husband, daughter, and our furry creatures. Our family will be growing in February as we welcome our baby boy. I love spending time with my family, reading lots of books, and taking care of my chickens. Traci: I love photography, and I enjoy making photos into something unique and magical. Nicole: My husband and I are busy raising two young daughters, working full time, and building a house ourselves. In our leisure hours, we enjoy exploring the outdoors. Alyssa: I spend most of my time chasing my two young boys around, since they participate in Warrior athletics and recreational sports as well as academic events. What aspect of customer care do you find most rewarding? Erin: Knowing our customers are happy and appreciative is the best part. Janelle: The most rewarding aspect for me is a sense of satisfaction from resolving a complex issue for a customer. McCamey: It’s rewarding when you begin a call with an upset customer and end the call with a happy one. Traci: I love the chance to make a customer’s day better by being the 10-20 minutes of kindness they may need. I try to give the quality of service I would want to experience as a customer. Nicole: What I find most rewarding is connecting with customers. When I get one of those calls where we build a fast rapport, it can make my whole day or even my whole week. Alyssa: The gratitude we receive from our customers is the most rewarding part. Customer service can be challenging, so knowing customers are appreciative of what we do means a lot. Cornerstone Group © 2023 DECEMBER 2023 RANGE BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: ROXY THEATER Mike purchased the Roxy Theater in 1979 with a business partner, and eight years later, he bought out his partner and became the sole owner. Before he and his partner purchased it, they were both employed as projectionists. This allowed Mike to take on the ownership with knowledge of the theater business and gave him the drive to pursue making it better. Rich in historical value to the Forsyth community—it opened in the 1930s—Roxy Theater provides the wistful memory of theaters from the past. Mike’s goal now is to preserve the nostalgia while striving to provide the viewers with an amazing visual and audio experience. Since purchasing the theater, he’s made improvements that will rival the larger theaters while trying to maintain that old-time feel. The theater also provides the perfect after-school job for six to eight high school students, who are beginning their working years. Mike said, “They’re just part of the family.” He loves that he and his wife can be there to listen during those moments when the kids decide to share about their days and life events. They’ve built a bond that brings many back to visit when they return home. In their spare time, Mike and Lynn like to travel and attend store and theater conventions. Mike is involved in planning the annual fireworks display, serves on the fair board, and has a display of model trains that can be viewed at Valley Auto Parts. Range provides a 3CX phone system that supplies service to both businesses. Mike said, “We’ve remained with a local company because it’s nice to know we have someone right here in Forsyth that will come and help us if we have any issues.” Chris Donnelly, Business Solutions Specialist, and her team have been there to offer support and continue to assist in any changes that need to be made. Both businesses continue to prosper in the community. The Roxy Theater just debuted a newwebsite and will be rolling out a newmobile app soon that will enable you to buy your movie ticket in advance. In the future, the option to purchase refreshments on the app will also be available. You can check out the newwebsite at roxytheatre.net to view the current movies and showtimes or call 406-346-7699. GaryWantulok, CPA 6 Mike Blakesley is a long-time resident of Forsyth, Montana, and the owner of two local businesses — Valley Auto Parts and the Roxy Theater. He and his wife Lynn currently co-own the businesses and stay extremely busy keeping them up and running. Mike and Lynn Blakesley
