4 SPRING 2018 The numbers are impressive. During Omaha Performing Arts’ last fiscal year alone: • 392,000 people attended 404 performances and events. • 42,200 students were served by educational programs. • 50,000+ people attended Jazz on the Green at Midtown Crossing. • $40.58 million in local economic impact was gained, with 50 percent of visitors coming from outside Douglas County. Amazing Variety and Venues On stage, Omaha Performing Arts provides a wide variety of outstanding experiences for audiences—Broadway, jazz, blues, dance, comedy, family and popular entertainment— at the Orpheum Theater, Holland Performing Arts Center and beyond. (Check out the sidebar to see what will be on stage soon.) Stewardship of the OrpheumTheater andHolland Performing Arts Center is an important part of the Omaha Performing Arts mission. The celebrated Orpheum Theater has served as the home of local and national performing arts in Omaha for nearly a century. This former vaudeville house was constructed in 1927, and recent renovations have restored its ornate splendor and enhanced acoustics. The Holland Performing Arts Center offers sleek urban modernism inside and out, with bold design and finely engineered acoustics. Great Plains Communications Works Behind the Scenes The architectural beauty of these two venues, however, needed to be combined with modern technology inside the walls. The Orpheum Theater and Holland Performing Arts Center were enhanced in 2017 by the installation of fiber-based services from Great Plains Communications. Construction began last summer and was completed in October, making Great Plains Communications the exclu- sive technology provider to Omaha Performing Arts. Their services include: • High-speed Internet at both locations • Managed Ethernet connections between the Orpheum Theater and Holland Performing Arts Center • Dedicated Internet access • SIP trunks for voice services BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT Omaha Performing Arts A vibrant destination for extraordinary experiences that engage, inspire and connect Omaha Performing Arts deserves a standing ovation. Since forming in 2000, Nebraska’s largest arts institution has enriched the lives of many Omaha area citizens as well as community members and students across the state.
