4 S U MM E R 2 0 2 1 BUSINESS spotlight The MAC is dedicated to teaching art to students of all ages and skill levels through in-house workshops and community outreach programs. Its goal is to help anyone with an interest in arts and crafts turn their dreams into a reality. Located in the old Mancell Music building at 115 E. Main in Staunton, The MAC features a work- space and gallery with plans for an art garden currently in progress. Learning and Exploring There’s something for everyone all year long at The MAC. Opportunities include: • Free Public Art Workshops – Offered from June 29 to Sep- tember 14, the topics for the workshops included exploration, paper mâché, musical, spaces, photo ops, masks, and fibers. • Classes – There are a variety of options available for adults, kids, and homeschool students as well as a retirees and seniors group, private events, and birthday parties. • Public Art – The MAC is pleased to announce funding from the Healing Illinois Grant made possible in partnership with The Chicago Community Foundation. This funding will enhance Staunton through public art that exemplifies the interconnectedness of the community, while creating conver- sation about inclusivity through a large outdoor mural located at 115 East Main Street. • Volunteer Positions – Want to be part of The MAC team? The MAC (Macoupin Art Collective) Professional artist and educator Brandace Cloud founded The MAC, a school of arts and crafts, in 2017 and serves as its Executive Director. Because of her passion and vision, area residents are actively exploring their creative talents and becoming closer as a community.
