We believe taking an interest in our neighbors and supporting local causes truly sets us apart from the competition. Check out the examples below of our community activities. We Lend a Hand at Other Community Events In addition to parades, you’ll see Madison Communications employees volunteering at a variety of events throughout the year in our service area. For example, we help out at the Summer Concert Series in Benld, the Annual Balloon Glow in Staunton, the Bunker Hill Fall Fest, the Fall Festival in Benld, and Staunton’s Art Fair and Snack with Santa events. We also give monetary donations to help support selected community programs. Marching in Parades Began in March The Madison Communications team volunteers their time to participate in local parades during the spring and summer months. In 2019, we’ll be marching in the following communities: Alhambra, Bunker Hill, Mt. Olive, Prairietown, Shipman, Staunton, and Worden. By being part of these annual events, we’re able to showcase our services on vehicle banners and toss out Madison Communications promotional items to attendees. We also enjoy the opportunitiy to visit with people before, during, and after each parade. If you’re along a parade route and see the Madison Communications team go by, please give us a wave! Ecycling Drive is Part of Our “Go Green” Initiative Old electronics must be disposed of carefully since they can contain toxic substances such as lead, mercury, and cadmium. To make it easier for area residents to safely dispose of devices they no longer want, Madison Com- munications sponsors Ecycling Day every year. Our most recent event was held on April 27 at our Staunton office, in partnership with CJD E-Cycling of Edwardsville. This family-owned recycling company’s mission is to keep as much as possible out of the landfills and put it back into the community to become new and refurbished materials. Participants were invited to bring anything metal with a cord—appliances, computers, printers, and more—for free recycling. TV sets were also accepted for a small fee. Nearly 10,000 pounds of electron- ics were brought to the event, and Madison appreciates the community support of Ecycling Day. Another “Go Green” program of Madison Communications focuses on decreasing paper use—our SmartHub app. It lets you manage your Madison account and pay your bill electroni- cally. To encourage participation, we’re currently running a “Go Green and Win Green” promotion. Each month we’ll draw the name of one customer using SmartHub to receive a $10 bill credit.
