I’m the oldest of 25 grandchildren, and my children are the fourth generation in the business. Our family is thankful to carry on this rich tradition.” From Flowers to Fountains Today, Mayfields offers a large variety of resources to help make outdoor spaces more beautiful: • Mayfields Garden Center • Landscaping and hardscaping essentials • Yard ornaments including fountains and wind chimes • Unique gifts featuring many handmade items • Yard maintenance services including yard care and snow removal • Fruit and vegetable buffets along with silk floral arrangements for special occasions Maintaining Connections To meet the growing needs of Mayfields, Madison Commu- nications provides the business with 100 Mbps internet with voice services. “We depend on Madison Communications to keep us con- nected. We especially need reliable internet for all of our credit card transactions and office computers. I also appreciate the hometown service we get from their staff,” Borgini noted. She shared an example of a time when Madison Communications went the extra mile for Mayfields: “This year, one of our employees was taking down the Staunton Chamber of Commerce’s Christmas tree on our property, which was 25 feet tall. As the tree was hauled across our lot, the internet wiring was accidentally torn from the Mayfields building. This left us on a Saturday without internet service, which meant no credit card use—90 percent of our sales. We called Madison Communications, and they came out immediately and worked very quickly to get us hooked back up so we could continue to operate our business.” Borgini appreciates how Madison Communications treats Mayfields and sees similarities between the two businesses. She explained, “As a small town business, we also pride our- selves on customer service and going the extra mile for our customers. We try to treat everyone like we would want to be treated. That would make my grandparents proud.” The official name of Mayfields is Max B. Mullins Landscaping DBA Mayfields Landscaping. But that’s a mouthful. So this Staunton business is generally known simply as Mayfields. Its roots go back to 1960, when Paul and Maybelle Mayfield with their eight children made their home in Staunton. In 1967, the sons opened Mayfield Bros. Produce, Inc., specializing in fresh fruits and vegetables, custom-made fruit baskets, and seasonal flowers and plants. Mayfields This family-run business has been growing (and landscaping and beautifying) for four generations
