There are many structural components and utility lines hidden from view yet essential to the functioning of a community and the businesses within it. In this issue of Business Connections , we explore several examples of this topic. Planning for Common Threats on page 3 talks about what can happen to businesses after damage to “out of sight” infrastructure such as water pipes or fiber cables and how to reduce the potential impact. Some of its jobs, such as foundations, are not often seen once the building is finished yet remain indispensable.
