The ONT contains the electronics that converts a signal of light into usable voice, data, and video services. Installed inside your home is a beige or gray box called an uninterruptible power source (UPS). These two units work together to provide your services. The UPS is currently plugged-in to an electrical outlet inside your home to provide power to the ONT. In the event of a commercial power outage the UPS will provide battery back up to your ONT for emergency telephone communica- tions* for approximately (8) hours. Effective February 13, 2019 WST will be offering a new UPS option that provides battery back up for approximately 24 hours. The unit can be special ordered and is $199.00. Installation will be approximately $75.00/hr with a ½ minimum to com- plete. WST places the order for the 24-hour unit upon request to ensure customer receives the most up to date UPS unit. If you are interested in the 24-hour UPS option, please call WST to order. *During a commercial power outage the UPS will disconnect internet and video service to preserve power for emergency telephone communications.
