Shelby Myers joined us in mid-March, becoming a member of the accounting department. We are thrilled to welcome such a talented individual to our team. 911 Surcharge to Increase During the 2024 State of South Dakota legislative session, a decision was made to increase the 911 emergency services surcharge to $2.00. This change will take effect from 7/1/24 through 7/1/26 on all voice users of telecommunication services. The proceeds will be used to support both one-time and ongoing costs of 911 systems in the State. As a voice service provider in South Dakota, Venture is mandated to collect and remit the 911 emergency surcharges to the SD Department of Revenue. It is also required that these charges be clearly stated in any billing statement, invoice or receipt.

Venture Commun i cat ions • 605-852-2224 • www. venturecomm.net Cornerstone Group © 2024 Discussions about what to consider when choosing an internet plan tend to focus on speed. That’s certainly understandable, given that the more the speed you have, the less time you’ll spend waiting for big files to load or video buffering to stop. However, the way families and businesses evaluate internet service is evolving beyond just speed to also include reliability. You can think of it this way: Internet speed is like the speed limit of a highway versus the number of lanes and the likelihood of roadblocks. How valuable is the ability to travel quickly if there’s congestion and unreliable conditions that often hinder you from doing so? For many businesses and homes, internet access is nearly as important as other utilities such as electricity, natural gas, and water. Having unreliable internet is stressful and counterproductive. If there’s downtime, businesses simply can’t operate in an efficient manner and productivity suffers. For families, unreliable internet can be an annoyance that occasionally prevents the enjoyment of streaming services and social media. For those who work from home, the consequences are more serious. It can severely limit the ability to complete projects and connect with colleagues. We’ve invested heavily in our fiber network, and we proactively monitor it to minimize service interruptions. Our network is also designed with redundant paths, meaning if a cable is accidentally cut, internet traffic can instantly be rerouted to another path to continue flowing. The internet reliability you experience from Venture Communications is further enhanced by the knowledgeable, professional support you receive from our local team of employees. After all, customer service goes hand-in-hand with reliability. Should issues develop—after all, no technology is foolproof—our goal is to get you back up and running as soon as possible. For complete details about the reliable, fast, and affordable internet plans we offer, call 605-852-2224 or visit www.venturecomm.net. Internet Speed Matters, But So Does Reliability Director Elections for 2024 scheduled In accordance with the bylaws of Venture Communications Cooperative, director elections have been scheduled for three districts where terms are to expire. Election notices will be mailed to each member in districts where an election is to be held. Any person who qualifies under the cooperative’s bylaws may run for the directorships, including incumbent directors. District Director Elections are scheduled as follows to elect one director from each district: June 5th, 2024 • District #4 Gettysburg and Lebanon Exchanges June 12th, 2024 • District #7 Britton Exchange June 6th, 2024 • District #8 Cresbard, Faulkton, Hoven, Onaka, and Tolstoy Exchanges Should there be only one petitioner in any of these districts, the scheduled election will be canceled. Notification of meeting cancellations will be published in local newspapers. Members should refer to the election notice for meeting details such as time, place, and petition deadlines. Please call 605-852-2224, or email krisr@venture.coop if you have questions concerning the elections.
