Winter 2021 3 BUSINESS connections While school activities have always been a part of RainbowLIVE’s programming, they’ve taken on more importance in light of the pandemic. With in-person attendance often limited for safety reasons, RainbowLIVE is making it possible for familymembers of students to connect virtually to sporting events, music and drama performances, and so on. In 2020 Rainbow provided streaming equipment to two schools within our service area to make it easier for them to participate in RainbowLIVE. Done through lender/borrower programs, these schools each received two cam- eras, a microphone, a laptop, and all the necessary software to connect their programming to RainbowLIVE and have their own LIVE page for any game/ event. In addition, a Rainbow Video Coordinator went on location to each school and trained the trainer there. Rainbow is also available for technical support and assistance on an ongoing basis to the staff and students. Angie Kreider, Director of Business Development, noted, “Rainbow is looking to expand this RainbowLIVE program to two or three more schools within our service area in 2021. It’s been a hit. The schools have been very excited and have utilized the equipment for sporting events and other school programs.” Kreider added, “RainbowLIVE offers excellent opportunities for a school to share its events with parents, grandparents, and other friends and relatives while still following safe procedures during the pandemic. Viewers have free access to the website and are able to watch live streaming. RainbowLIVE is our version of over-the-top (OTT) community access content, meaning the content is streamed to viewers and can be watched on any Internet-connected device.
